Not been able to test Skjoldr yet!

Jottnar have asked me to review the Melrakki (weren't they in GoT?) ski jacket which I bought in the sale a couple of weeks ago. I bought the jacket for use on two upcoming ski trips but almost as soon as it arrived both trips were cancelled due to Covid-19. Hence I have not been able to try the jacket in any mountain conditions. It does have the high standard of construction I expect from Jottnar and that is the only basis for my 5 star rating above.

One thing I would mention is the sizing. I have an original Neoshell Bergelmir which I bought in a local shop some years ago. They only had a Large in stock but it was not excessively large on me, particularly with winter layers underneath. I am a Medium in most makes so I went for the medium in the Melrakki. I have to say that the sizing of this jacket is generous to say the least, and I probably should have gone for the Small. Certainly for Spring skiing, when I am unlikely to wear bulky underlayers, I suspect that it will be too big.

Looks like it will be next year (with any luck) before I get to try it on the mountain. Not sure that I would have happily parted with £595 but at the sale price of £385 it was competitive with e.g. Arcteryx. and not quite so minimalist. although I would have liked an additional inside pocket.
